    world class strikers in MMA

i have been watching more MMA lately , and i had like your opinion , mighty global posters , on the fact that they are few world clas strikers in both UFC and PRIDE .

for the info i am a former competitor in boxing , muay thai and savate at the national and olympic trials level so i think i can judge striking .

and i am disapointed . chuck lidell throws amateurish haymakers , altough in combos , he has power for sure but most decent pro boxers have way sharper technique .

vitor belfort , boxes well sits well on his punches but again , he has the skills of a good pro nothing incredible .baroni boxes like a regular golden glove champ

i could go on , but the fact is that cro cop is the only world class striker i saw in MMA .(igor is NOT a world class kick boxer)

loiseau is a good thai boxer but he is no ramon dekkers ,

    any idea why ?

maybe the need to defend takedowns forces you to adjust your game ?

you can't compare mma strikers to boxing, just doesnt' work...
Boxers focus on one thing that is punching...
MMA fighters have to focus on punching, clinching, wrestling, knees and kicks, as well as BJJ...

It's like asking why a boxer has lousy take down defence..
You don't think so look at butterbean.. Got taken down by 150lbs genki sudo..

Striking technique in MMA is much different than in boxing or even kickboxing as such. Mainly due to the lack of defense the small gloves give you, and the need to defend takedowns. That's my take on it anyways.
