I've just finished watching this years K1 final Grand Prix. It's the only fighting platform that is being televised on a regularly basis over here in Germany. So I tune in quite frequently but I might stop after watching the Musashi vs. Ruslan Karaev fight. What the **** were the judges thinking?! Karaev won every single round, hit Musashi with almost any shot in the book, rocked him occasionally and they call it a draw? And than in the extra-round Karaev has the better of the exchanges, connects with a beautiful reverse kick to the head and loses? WTF?! I know that this **** is being staged in Japan and that Musashi is a practioner of the art that was being founded by the man who founded K1. It doesn't surprise anyone that he has a little bonus but every year its the same ****. They might as well change the rules to "If two fighters finish on their feet Musashi wins." so there would be no more controversity.
That being said the KO of Musashi in the semifinals by Feitosa was one of the meanest shots I've ever seen. Anyone else had to smile when Musashi tried to question the first KD? If he had been still able to stand after Feitosa KOed him I'm sure he would've found sth. to protest about...
I was a bit dissapointed with LeBanners performance. And Hong-Mam Choi is as limited as it gets. He fits perfectly into the freak show bs K1 turns into sometimes.
Whatever, Semy Schilt is a deserving winner. Though the differences in height and reach are kind of telling about the worth of the competition as such.
Who else did watch this and what do you think?
