Benny The Jet was a phenomenal striker and would fare very good in the modern UFC if he learned some ground skills.

I'm in Evansville, IN and i train at a gym that teaches Muay Thai. One of the guys from my school fought a guy trained by Benny Urquidez and won, keeping the other guy on the defensive for all three two-minute rounds (it was an amateur fight). This website explains about Benny Urquidez (indeed, about all kickboxers) and Muay Thai.
if you click on the menu selection "The Belt is in the Ring" and scroll down, you'll see how phenomenal Urquidez really was.
Good in his own right, but the fact that a Muay Thai student beat a student of Urquidez's to me proves a point about Urquidez.

ive scene him at a couple events a couple years back (small shows in Jersey)- and have a couple training videos of him and bas going at it- hes top notch kick boxing
