And that was about the only thing he really did. The rest of the time he just kept following Edgar around. On the other hand, Edgar wasn't doing much either, he just kept going in circles.

Basically, the plodder couldn't really keep up with the quicker Edgar. And Edgar on the other hand, was still traumatized from the first round. Therefore, the stand-up portion ended up in a stalemate of sorts.

You're forgetting the fact that Edgar actually took Maynard down a few times. But the later round both were so exhausted nothing happened.
