Overeem's only choice was Antonio Silva and he decided to fight in K1 instead.
He will be back in May, K1 is this December and I can't really argue that he is taking too long of a break, the Final 8 tournament is brutal, 3 fights in 1 night.

So you are really saying Rogers was a better/ more credible opponent than Overeem? Doesn't matter if he defended his belt or not, he is the Champ. If you have 2 picks, a contender or a champion, who would you fight?
      That basically explains everything.

But I think Rogers was a good first opponent for Fedor because he was less credible. It was Fedor's first fight in Strikeforce and a lot casual fans in America have only heard of Fedor, but never seen him fight.

Plus I am sure Strikeforce and Coker wanted to build Overeem vs Fedor as a big event.

It made good business sense at the time, but the fight with Overeem still isn't happening and M1 appears to be the main problem.

Rogers was coming of a 22 second KO of Arlovski, it was a good fight but his M1 team were dodging the Overeem fight after.

Fedor will fight anyone in the world, the guys a iceman, no emotion no nothing, he will fight whoever they put in front of him but sadly M1 isn't putting the right opponent for him..

So, here's the plan. Fedor rematches Werdum in early 2011, then fights Overeem in May.

At the time? Obviously, yes. Roger was an undefeated HW with a devastating win over a top5 HW (undeserved, btw) in AA.

            Something that AO doesn't have.

Don't know if you follow mma long enough but the champion was Fedor. He's the GOAT of MMA.

Overeem was just an unranked opponent and winning the SF belt would do nothing for him except lock him out there

            A. because anyone could show overeem getting knocked out dozen of times to discredit Fedor's win, B. because overeem won the title when SF was a REGIONAL org. C. Because he hadn't defended his belt in 3 years. Therefore = meaningless belt.

Fighting and beating a top5 fighter in Werdum would do more for his career 'cause Werdum was a greater challenger. Which was proved once Werdum subbed him.

Oveeem was unranked. Don't know how many times I need to post this but he was unranked.

He only entered the top10 after beating Rogers who was coming of a devastating Knock Out.

Then the fight made sense. Still, Werdum is the #2 HW in the world. AO is a fringe top10.

A rematch with Werdum makes more sense.

                1) Scott Coker and Strikeforce NEVER offered M1, Fedor and GG, Overeem the fight. How could M1 and Fedor duck Overeem if it was never offered to them? Scott planned to build up both Fedor and Overeem to the American audience, they were NEVER meant to fight in their first fights.

TRY TO DENY THIS I DARE YOU!!!!!!

                2) Prior to the Rogers fight, allot of people questioned Overeem's growth. Also its widely known that allot of MMA fighters do take drugs and there have been several drug scandals in MMA.......why shouldnt M1 and Fedor try to ensure a clean fight?

TRY TO ARGUE THAT MMA SHOULDNT HAVE A CLEAN SPORT!!!!!!!

Finally, Overeem himself promised us that he would concentrate on Strikeforce and on MMA. He broke this and returned to K1 in the first instance. If he and his team did indeed want to fight Fedor then why is he now returning to K1 and why did he answer that he would want a Werdum matchup (instead of Fedor)?

                  I agree completely with #1.

#2, you make a good and credible argument.

As for the K-1, this is where I beg to differ. Overeem gets mad respect from me for fighting in the GP, and he may very well win it this year. He's also upping his stock imo as well.

Overeem is from Holland isnt he. K1 is everything over cuz its kickboxing, mma, especially one with a lack of top heavyweights is secondary.

For the folks that dont understand why he competes in K1 over Strikeforce. Its basically like an American whos good at football and soccer. The american can leave the USA and makes millions of euros overseas but you can bet your bottom dollar that the american is staying home to play football.

I'm not placing any blame on anyone besides M-1 and SF. Strikeforce for allowing guys to have non exclusive contracts (although they have no choice since their roster is weak and top fighters arent gonna commit to something like that). M-1 doesnt need to be explained and Dana like him or not did the right thing by building his own stars instead of trying to throw his whole hand for one ***ing guy.

I love Fedor but fans dont understand business. If your a business owner why would you pay Fedor 400k a fight? Cuz hes good at armbars? Sure from an entertainment aspect he deserves the money but think about it. He's not bringing in ratings. Why pay Fedor 400k when Nick diaz can bring in the same viewers?

Talent wise fedor is worth every penny. But business is business and a dude bringing in few viewers, with a diva management just isnt worth it.
