    Brock Lesnar opinions....(DEBATE)

I want a sweet debate here. Let's keep it cool ya'll!

But what does is mean when a lot of you call Lesnar a hype job? Do you think he's overrated and just not that good? Or he's a hype job because Dana hypes him up as this big bad unstoppable reckoning machine and that's just too much hype on him? I EXTREMELY disagree with the first opinion, but agree with the second opinion.

I think he is overhyped but definitely not overrated. I find it funny how SOME of the people that call him overrated thought Carwin was this legit #1 contender and was suppose to destroy Brock and make quick work of him. A hype job doesn't show the heart and desire for survival that Lesnar showed in that 1st round. I think a hype job covers up and call it a night. Lesnar did everything he could do to survive and that's a champions trait IMO being able to survive and overcome adversity.

Don't think I'm a nuthugger because I'm not, is he that great? Not yet but maybe, we don't know yet but I think he's done enough to at least drop the label of WWE hype job. he beat Carwin, he beat Mir(definitely top 10 in most peoples top 5 guys) and Herring who was a top 15 heavyweight at the time. He's not one of my favorite fighters but I dont hate him either. I think he's a solid Heavyweight that's really working hard. It's not like Kimbo or Lashley and I can respect that. But answer me this please. If he does beat Cain, which I think he doesn't actually, does he finally get the respect as one of the best heavyweights in the world or will the haters still hate?

What are your thoughts? I just don't get the hate. I hate having to stand up for him because he isn't a favorite fighter of mine but I kind of think the hate is just borderline hating and disrespectful right now.

Check out these stats....Lesnar is rightfully the #2 Heavyweight in the world behind Fedor...

    Brock Lesnars last five fights
    Shane Carwin
    Frank Mir(2x)
    Randy Couture
    Heath Herring

    Fedor's last 5 fights
    Werdum
    Bret Rodgers
    Andre Arlovski
    Tim Sylvia
    Hong Man Choi

    Werdums last five fights
    Fedor
    Antonio Silva
    Mike Kyle
    Dos Santos
    Brandon Vera

    Cain's last 5 fights
    Big Nog
    Rothwell
    Kongo
    Stojinic
    Jake Obrien

    Allistair Overeem's last 5
    Rodgers
    Fujita
    Thompson
    Sylvester
    Goodridge

Based on their last 5 fights resume wise, Fedor/Werdum/Lesnar are pretty equal is quality opposition faced since all 3 have one not so great victory on their resume but the rest are quality wins, with each one quality loss as well. Cain comes in with the 4th best with Overeem coming in 5th, if anybody has something to prove against quality opposition it's Overeem because the toughest he's fought is Brett Rodgers. I like Brett but he's a top 10-15 guy right now until he gets more well rounded.

My point is Lesnar's fought just as tough opposition as the other guys in his last 5 fights, so why is he overrated or a hype job? I don't think he's the best but somebody just please explain too me why you think he's not that good? I give him a good shot against any heavyweight. Would he beat the other 4 guys here? I don't think he'd beat all of them but you count him out though, especially since this is MMA and he has a freak physical ability behind a solid wrestling game that puts him automatically in the top 10.

He's overhyped. Few people overrate him.

nobody says he's a great striker, with good kicks, knees, superman punches etc.

He's the most athletic Super HW (guys that need to cut weight to fight in the HW) in the history of the UFC and that alone can give problems to anyone.

But what make me respect Lesnar is the fact that he asked for tuff opponents. He's a true competitor.

Dana gave him the second worst match up possible for him in his debut (Minotauro being the 1st at the time).

and also: he isn't content in being a LNP artist. The guy hired a 7x bjj world champion after he lost against Mir...

he could have hired one of these wrestler-bjj black belt like fitch's coach and train "guerrilla jiu jitsu" "greg jackson jiu jitsu". But he didn't. He wanted to really learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. he wanted to sub people... and he's doing great. He shut down Mir in his half guard because of his bjj coach then he set up the kata gatame against carwin from the half guard too...

The fact that great wrestlers don't train offensive BJJ make me go nuts. Really. 80% of the bjj artists in MMA would probably sell their mothers in order to have a great wrestling but the ****s that have a great wrestlers are content in lay and praying. Training modified "BJJ"

Anyway, I think that either cain or jds are going to beat him.

He got a lot of attention before he'd even done anything, based upon the fact that he was a fake fighter. So I think it's fair to say that he was a hypejob in the past because even though his wrestling credentials are legit, there are better wrestlers than him who received far less attention so early on in their careers.

But he's proven himself in several ways and has shown himself to be a true fighter.

The only thing I really take issue with is that he was (and still is to a certain extent) getting rated based upon how he was promoted rather than what he'd achieved. For example he was promoted as an unstoppable machine, when the reality is that he wasn't that. Yep, he's very strong and fast for a guy his size, but his takedowns can be stopped and it wouldn't surprise me if Cain is able to dictate where the fight takes place. I think fighters should be rated based upon what they do, and that wasn't happening with him until recently.

I think it's very possible that he isn't as good as most seem to think he is, but we'll see. Maybe he loses to JDS, Cain and in a Carwin rematch, or maybe he beats them all. We'll find out soon enough which is all I can ask for.

Lesnar is hated because of 1 thing...his stint with the WWE. Had he not done that, he would be one of the most respected MMA fighters today. Wrestlers get all kinds of respect in MMA and Lesnar is one of the best wrestlers MMA has ever had. That coupled with is overwhelming size and strength and his incredible speed for his size, makes him very legit. More legit than Matt Hughes, Mark Coleman, Randy Couture, Dan Henderson and all the other wrestlers that have fought in MMA. If Lesnar doesn't get any respect, than those guys shouldn't get any too.
