    Babalu interview....

    From Tatame

Tell me a little bit about this fight with Travis Wiuff.

It was very fast. In the first round I hit him hard, he clinched and took me down. After that I punished him a little bit on the floor and even attempted a guillotine choke. On the second round, I tried to kick and punch and he grabbed my left leg and put me down. I applied a triangle choke and he tried to avoid raising his body as he did with Carlão (Barreto at Heat 2) and I grabbed his arm. I applied an arm-lock at :24 and the fight was over.

So, you kept full control of the fight. There was any moment he threatened you?

I controlled the bout the entire time. On the first round I got hit me a punch and flash popped up. But in the sequence he applied another punch and I woke up.

Have you already signed another fight in your contract with UFC?

I must return to UFC in August. But I don't know against who! To be honest I don't really care about those contract things. What really matters for me is doing a great job on the ring.

Besides your fight, the highlight was the KO suffered by Randy Couture. How do you see that bout?

In my opinion Randy wasn't great at all. He didn't exchange punches. Liddell knew how to impose his game and when Couture ran into him, Liddell escaped fom the diagonal and hit a right punch in his chin. It was mortal. Randy feel down knocked out.

After this victory over Wiuff, there are rumors that you might have another chance to face Liddell. In November of 2002 you got KO'd by him. What you do you do differently this time?

I will knock out Liddell. I will not even try to knock him down. I want to test his Muay Thai!

Days after your bout, Brazilians fight at the best Pride Middleweight GP tournament ever. Do you think you shouldn't be fighting this GP?

I guess I am good enough to fight at any tournament in Earth. I am ready! Lots of people talked to me I was supposed to fight Pride GP. I guess I should too, but they don't call me, so I got over it!

I dont think Babalu should try and stand with Chuck, he runs a good risk of getting poked in the eye and/or Knocked out....

Didn't that happen once before? I guess Babalu doesn't remember that massive kick to the face.

On the english note, your interview with Pedro Rizzo remains my favorite interview of all time.
