Lets also not forget that he made Rogers do the chicken dance in the first with a left hook. Basically though, as you say Fedor did what he had to do.
he wasn't in trouble is true but rogers had his moments and did cause a huge gash. that 1st round could have gone either way, with me leaning towards rogers. fedor still had the edge because he was clearly the one pushing the action and it was just a matter of time before he landed his kill shot.

Yeah I'm not denying that Rogers had his moments. The gash was certainly noteworthy, and was made worse via the ground and pound. Still though Rogers essentially gassed about half-way through, and he never actually had Fedor shaken or in any sort of real danger, despite the blood.

What surprised me the most about Rogers when first watching the fight was his ability to employ defensive grappling to avoid take downs and to standup, and also to defend submissions. However it was more a case of him using his size and strength effectively than of him employing technical prowess.

This is just my impression, but it seems that a lot of people were surprised by Roger's showing and have hence overrated his performance in the fight. I too was surprised, but after re-watching the fight a number of times (I until now didn't have internet in my room (boredom) but had downloaded the fight in my neighbors room) it seems that Fedor was pretty much just fighting his fight the entire way through. The nose gash was certainly a source of adversity though. That said, Fedor has been cut/dazed/slammed on his head repeatedly through his fight career only to still shine.

        lmfao:

there’s probably a little band of Afflictioned drones firing up its squadron of noobcycles, ready to gallop like spray-tanned Paul Reveres through the streets of MMA fandom repeating it

            Fedor exposed? Right.

He doesn't leave things for the judges, as usual, and we're suppposed to believe he was "exposed"?

The term "exposed" is exclusively reserved for matters like Barrera-Hamed.

Once Rogers began to step to throw his left (stepping before the punch), Fedor timed him perfectly and laid him out.

I've maybe watched the fight a dozen times now, and Fedor was never really in danger in the fight. Rogers was explosive early, however after the Rogers ground and pound followed by a missed Fedor armbar attempt it was all Fedor.

fedor usually reacts to what the other guy does, i thought the fight pretty much went like a normal fedor fight...taking out a guy much bigger than himself with a single punch is something pretty damn impressive. i didn't see any 'weakness" at all, i thought it was great win for fedor
