Conor McGregor opens up sweepstakes to find next opponent

Conor McGregor is his keeping his options open.

Doubt has been cast over a reported trilogy bout between McGregor and rival Dustin Poirier amid a public dispute over McGregor allegedly reneging on a six-figure donation that was to be made to Poirier’s Good Fight Foundation charity. It was Poirier who first mentioned on Twitter that McGregor’s team had yet to come through with the $500,000 that was to be donated to the organization following their rematch at UFC 257 in January, which led to an incensed McGregor calling Poirier a “inbred hillbilly” and threatening that their upcoming UFC 264 fight on July 10 “is off.”

The bout has yet to be officially announced by the UFC. On Tuesday, McGregor posted on Twitter that he is “Looking to start the foundations of a good fight you guys, who’s in?” in an apparent swipe at Poirier’s foundation and a solicitation for who his next opponent should be.

Though it isn’t not clear whether McGregor is doubling down on fighting someone else at UFC 264 or simply stirring up conversation about potential matchups in the future, several UFC fighters had come forward a day earlier to offer to fill in the supposed vacancy.

Three-time Bellator champion Michael Chandler, currently set to fight Charles Oliveira for a vacant lightweight title at UFC 262 on May 15, offered to make a quick turnaround from that card and meet McGregor at UFC 264.

Rafael dos Anjos, once scheduled to defend the UFC lightweight championship against McGregor at UFC 196 before an injury removed him from that opportunity, also threw his hat in for the possibility of a “red panty night.”

Two other lightweight veterans also expressed their interest in a McGregor clash, Kevin Lee and Michael Johnson.

Should Poirier vs. McGregor 3 not happen for whatever reason, it looks like McGregor is spoiled for choice when it comes to finding a replacement.

    Porier vs Mcgregor or bust.

really not trying to see anything else from him.
