How did you get into/Discover MMA?

I used too watch it a little in the early UFC's never really cared much for it, just thought it was kinda cool. A couple years ago I was at the video store and seen UFC Hits vol. 1, so I checked it out and I was hooked. After that I went online to find out more about it and the people I seen on that video. Thats when I discovered forums and such and have been hooked ever since. MMA has held my attention longer than most my other intrests besides money and women. I love this ****......

My sister's boyfriend had UFC 3 and I loved it. I rented every one I could find at the video store. I thought Royce Gracie was the badest man in the world. I got away from it for a while until I got a satellite dish and saw it on PPV. I found Pride too and liked that even more. I eventually got online and started searching and found this place. Started training and here I am.

I heard of pride for a long time before I actually seen it. I like both organizations pretty much the same. I havnt trained much besides some living room Jiu Jitsu and some boxing. I need a job, money, and a gym before I can really say I train...

First UFC I ever saw was UFC 3, and I liked it, although I thought it was a little dull. I was a huge pro-wrestling fan for years after that, and I started to hear about Pride from the puroresu websites. I used to buy a lot of Japanese wrestling tapes from Japan, and one time I decided to get Pride 17, cause I heard it was a damn good card. I picked up Pride 18, 19 and the Best Vol 1 from the Japanese website, and I figured, "Why don't I just watch it on PPV?". So I started getting Pride on PPV with Pride 20, and then I started into the UFC again with UFC 37. I've gotten them all on PPV since then.

Saw the first UFC and the few that followed. As did carl, I had Royce Gracie pinned as the baddest man alive. I would talk to friends about him and UFC, most cared not, same as nowadays lol. Just lost interest, had other things going on in life, and got away from it and forgot about it for a while.

Then about two years ago i started getting this big desire to start training again (had some aikido and judo b4) and i wanted something that wasnt the mainstream. This was BJJ. or so i thought. It wasn't mainstream as far as with friends who didnt know about it, but it is in the MMA community. I started researching different martial arts, and sat in on about a dozen schools for as many different styles before i made up my mind.

Now i train 3 to 4 days per week in IGS(Integrated Grappling Systems), which is basically a hodgepodge of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Filipino Kun Tao, Filipino Dumog, Russian Sambo and Shoot wrestling. I also train in Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Kun Tao, and The Pekiti Tersia Kali system.

I got into pride/UFC again about 2 years ago when i started getting interested in looking for a new style/school, and my long-time internet buddy, mister Hojak got me to come sign up here. the rest is history.

Wow this is going to bring some fond memories. Here is my story,

I was stationed in Camp Lejune NC. and some friends heard about the UFC in Charlotte I think. We went and I had a blast. OF course we all thought that we could do that and do better than the guys on the ring. I had a Judo back ground at the time so I knew about "NEWAZA". After that never gave much attention to it but we wrestle and did Judo all the time.

When I moved back to Florida I looked for a place to train and found Conan Silveira in South Beach when he had just won the Extreme Challege. It was a long drive for me at the time so I asked around and found Jorge and Pablo Popovitch.

2 years after I had a fall out with the way the business was been run and moved to a new place. I found Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogeira and trained with him for his first RINGS tournament. I was to fight then in RINGS also, but I broke my hand. I did 2 small ass event in some warehouses in Miami. That year I also won the Pan Ams BJJ Blue Belt.

I made some friends while training with Mino, Alex Davis and (I'll catch fire for this but..)Jamie Levine. I started working with them during the WEF 7, 8, and 9. Producing and coordinating the shows with Alex.

When Mino left for BTT in Brazil, I founf again The Silveira Bros'. Marcelo had a school in Boca Raton, Florida and here we are today the same group of guys under American Top Team.

              Damn I love this sport!

I used to be a huge pro wrestling fan and heard about Ken Shamrocks fighting backround. I found UFC 3 at the local video store and watched it. I thought it was pretty cool but I stopped following it for a long time until I saw the UFC video game for dreamcast. I remembered watching it on video and I thought ti might make an interesting video game. After I played it for awhile, I looked up some ultimate fighting highlight videos and in the corner of one of them was a following little circle with the name sherdog.com

I started posting right before UFC 37 and I have seen every UFC since UFC 38.

I saw the footage where Weit was dropping elbows to a guy on his hands and knees; can't remember his name. I mean he was jumping in the air and driving his elbow to the base of the guy's back/head area! Right then and there I knew I had to see this ..... before it was outlawed!

Man, how long ago was that and it's going strong!
