Footwork!

-
yeah, i recognize the footwork. very similar to the kickboxing i know.
personally, i much prefer kuo bu and bai bu to turn.
this is good for dealing with a boxer imo.
a good measure of stepping skill is how many steps u need to turn 360 degrees. you should take no more than 2 steps to turn a complete circle.
thanks for the vid palma. always cool to see how different schools of thought deal with same or similar problems.
i especially liked the slip and hit.

nice workout drill palma. i like the exercse virtue of it.
however, there needs to be solid sinking work to to combat and balance the effects of having a center too high.
again, great for training fast foot movement. but u, in fighting or training, want to have your hips underneath your shoulders - one of the 3 outer coordinations.
i like these exercises. i think we can adapt a more martial attitude to them though.
thanks for the clips bro!
here is a clip - definitely not best imo, but it does show kuo bu and bai bu(inside and outside step). btw, i am not saying this guy is great. he may be a handful to meet up with in a dark alley, but i just found a quick vid on bagua footwork...
keep up the good work palma!

ahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!
here is clip i wanted to show.
not easy. and remember, this is training for skills, not fighting. but very amazing eiher way!
these are stepping, jumping, and also light body skills basic training. this is basic - and yet 99 -percent cannot do. i thought it would help give u some ideas.
peace out bro.
edit - these are training skills that lead into adding certain qualities into your form or fighting. and these should not be done without a teacher. even the jump training at the begginning is not a standard jump, it is a jump without using the bending of the knees. and note that these are/can be incorporated into boxing, but necessary a part of boxing training. it will enhance any boxing or athletic skills.
and the empty basket walking is very very hard to do!Last edited by j; 04-09-2009, 07:49 PM.
