    Shields v Lawler

Looks like Elite XC basically folded into Strike Force.

I heard about this bout between Shields and Lawler (two of my favorite fighters).

How do you see this one playing out?

i think Lawler's sprawl will be good enough for him to stay off the ground. if it stays standing, Shields has no shot. his striking is rudimentary at best. if it goes to the ground Lawler could be in some trouble, but i don't see it happening.

    Lawler by KO, 2nd Round

Yeah, Strikeforce bought several Elite fighter contracts.

This is a terrible fight for Shields. Shields flat out sucks on the feet. His only advantage is his wrestling muscle and much of that strength goes away fighting at a higher weight with the bigger Lawler, who will probably carefully crack Shields noggin' into the stratosphere.

I seriously hope Robbie Lawler delivers, people claim he isnt a top 5 middleweight but i think he actually is or at the very least can be, but dont count out Shields, his ground game is serious and 3 of lawlers four losses have been to subs although one was injury. He's suseptible to triangles, but the question is can Shields build enough weight to take down a natural 185er that probably has to cut weight

I've never cared for Shields. He has always seemed spoon-fed and really one-dimensional to me, where as Lawler is a real gritty and tough fighter.

I see Lawler via (T)KO, as stated before, his sprawl will be enough and we all know that he only needs one solid shot to put you away.

Shields isnt too shabby tho, he's beaten Yushin Okami, Nick Tomphson, Condit, Mach Sakurai and has tapped out Jon Fitch and Diego Sanchez in BJJ competition

lawler's weakness is against leg attacks, not ground game... i think robbie will ground and pound shields, or maybe take him out on his feet. shields is great on the ground but his striking is even worse than matt hughes. i don't see jake getting through 15 minutes in the octagon without lawler scrambling his brains
