Hendo/Rampage likely to be a non title fight

On the possibility of the Quinton Jackson-Dan Henderson fight being a unification fight:

"No. What we’re doing with that thing is we’re respecting both (the UFC and PRIDE) titles. The UFC title is the UFC champion and we’re respecting Dan as the PRIDE champion. Quinton will walk out with his belt if Dan wins and vice versa."

Kinda disappointing. I guess this is one of the champ v champ superfights everyone wanted to see.

This is a really good interview with lots of info.

Belts dont mean a damn thing. This is champion vs. champion. I'm taking Hendo.

For **** sake this is just like what the WWE used to do. The PPV in the UK was never a major title fight. I guess this is gonna prove who the best LHW is?

That's cool as long as they are fighting. Should be an exciting and competitive match.

Personally I couldn't care less who has a belt at the end of it. I wanna see the proclaimed champs of both organizations sqare off the winner = the better man. I've been thirsty for matchups like that since the two orgs started getting so big.
I also think it's a bit cheesy and hurtfull to the sport not to let them unify. If you are gonna let them fight Let there be one champion. The first order of buis in most fans eye was probably to square of the champions of every weight class to establish who's who. And sort out the rankings from there based on w's and l's, Let those who are better, but faught in pride and have had toughter cometition prove their worth and work up the ranks eventually it would be a grand group of champs and top ranked fighters.

This is still a huge fight, but i do think this takes a little bit of an edge off it.Obviously both fighters will begiving it their best to prove how is the better champ but with the titles not at stake the fight wont have that must win situation to it.The Travis Lutter v Anderson Silva fight didnt even have a main event feel to it once the belt wasn't on the line.Thats maybe not the best example as this is UFC v Pride and a much bigger fight but just think how big this fight could be if both belts were on the line.

I figured Dana would pull out last second with the title's being up for grabs.

As far as I know, Dana White always said it wouldn't be for the titles. He even said it at the post fight press conference after Jackson won the title.
