Judo is not as limited as some would think. There are a plethora of arm bars, chokes, and ground maneuvers to be used effectively in an MMA fight. However, I would advise you to learn some serious wrestling to assist you in your takedowns..as a majority of Judo takedowns are somewhat reliant on your opponent wearing a Gi.

Jui-Jitsu, of course, is the staple of submissions experts. Never hurts to learn.

Here is my advice to you, First off you should evaluate your fighting style and find out what your strengths are. Are you a strong stand-up fighter with minimal ground fighting skills or the opposite? If you are a strong stand-up fighter than I would drill several take-down defense tactics in order to keep from being taken to the ground. I would also familiarise myself with the ground game in order to at least recognize and be able to defend against submissions. If you have a strong stand up game than I would focus more on the "getting up/stand in base" aspect of the ground game. You want to keep the fight on your feet where your strength and chances of success are greater.

Now if you are the opposite and have a strong ground game then work on take-down tactics and defending punches and kicks. But practice them in the way that will assist you in getting the person to the ground.

i do judo so ofcourse i know about the submission holds, but they only allow certain ones, for instance knee bars and ankle locks aren't allowed, so its no substitute for jujitsu (although the arts are almost as one in the same, they complement each other very well). Also, as you say, the takedowns rely very much on the gi, and judo throws are rare in MMA. These things are what I meant when I said Judo was limmited, just tryin to clarify not gettin defensive.
