My math sucks. My aseptic technique sucks. There's an older chick that had previous experience working in a pharmacy, she's the best student in the class by default. Other than her, I'm the best but yet the gap in skills is vast.

dont worry, they're going to treat you with kid gloves... they wont let you do anything fun on your own.... you'll have a tech watching over you and anything after that a pharmacist still has to check...

the only math i ever use is cross multiplying.... thats all you need

X/Y=A/B etc etc...


and RELAX.... they wont look down on you if you ask them to do it first so you can watch...

you'll probably start off the day by doing cartfill or pyxis/omnicell (whatever they have) and thats just picking out the tablets from their unit dose packages and putting them in the bins.... just pay attention to strength

yeah, no worries man... seriously...

all else fails, tell them "this is why im here, so i can learn before i actually start doing this **** for real" etc etc

i started at the hospital i worked at with ZERO formal classes or training... i had like 3 months retail experience and that was it... no classes, no hospital nothing.... and by the second day i was compounding chemo....

so just take your time, its really easy once you get the hang of it...

and it depends too on what size hospital you are at... the one i do IT work at now, the pharmacy here sucks... its huge its like store room work... like warehouse work, nothing like pharmacist style stuff...

but the one i worked at for 5 years was much more, i dont know "intimate"

oh, and Jr...

Dont be late... they really frown on that... and dress appropriately (some hospitals its scrubs, but mine was button down and tie)
