neither is that great.

i'd take the m-16 between the two.

i heard hk fixed all the problems of the enfield though. maybe it's a great gun now. doubt it though. the original design was a turkey. especially compared to the lar (british fal) it replaced.

an example of why everyone hates america:

in the 1950's all the european nato countries began developing assault rifles in .280 caliber or 7.92mm short.

when nato standardization came along the americans rejected the assault rifle concept and wanted heavier battle rifles.

since the purpose of nato standardization is for all nato countries to use the same ammo , the european nato members had to abandon their assault rifle concepts and go along with the americans and their heavy .308/7.62mm caliber.

that's why the british , germans , belgians and others had to adopt heavy battle rifles like the hk g3 and fal/lar.

then shortly thereafter the americans entered vietnam and changed their mind and decided to go with an assault rifle instead.

they adopted the m-16 in .223/5.56mm caliber even though it was not nato standard.

the europeans wanted assault rifles , the americans wanted battle rifles. the europeans ended up appeasing the americans and adopted battle rifles.

the americans however changed their minds and adopted an assault rifle.

the europeans get stuck with battle rifles they didn't want because of the americans who wanted battle rifles but ended up adopting assault rifles that the europeans wanted.
