Throughout the years Ive been feelin some production that Timbaland has put out, but with him going into pop now and dominating that also (Nelly Fertado). Is he truly a genius when it comes to production or is he over rated?

It's easy as hell for me to pick out a Timbaland beat. I heard that new Timberlake song and in the first 10 seconds I was like "that was a timbaland beat". He recycles his beats over and over...they all sound the same. I don't think he's a genius he just knows what beats to use with certain styles. He made Nelly Furtado (who's Canadian by the way) a pretty big star with one song. Before Nelly was making ballads and ****. -
Oh I agree with that somewhat but he still has a trademark sound like every major producer. I can easily pick out a 9th Wonder beat (even though he is top 3 favorite of mine right now), Easily a Neptunes beat, and same with Kanye West. Most guys have a core sound to their production. I just think that even if we arent feelin him that much, he has gone both ways with pop and hip hop and done well in both worlds.Originally posted by Smokin'Comment

Timbo is a genius. I'm a fan. Probably my third favorite producer.
One thing he has over Kanye and Just Blaze is that he doesn't sample.
I however won't forgive him for Fergie's nauseating "London Bridge."
9th wonder has the same drum pattern. Neptunes use the same keyboard for all their songs. And Kanye has the same soulful sampling with the high pitched voices.Comment
