I was thinking about that. I think it's normal that NYC/East Coasters have a different view of what West Coast Hip hop is to them, than what WC hip hop is to West Coasters.

For example, if you try to make a best East Coast songs, i'd probably find it amusing too.

We appreciate different songs from the West Coast a little different than you do. There's a certain sound of the west coast that we're used to, that west coasters don't agree is representative of their rap. I think your pov of west coast music is more eccentric than what we like of your side.

Give me your top 10 east coast rap songs off the top of your head.

I see songs there that aren't even from the old school era of West Coast, which is what the thread is about. Pretty sure I saw some year 2000 and above videos there.

Maybe 2000 is old school to you, but I don't agree. There's a golden era of rap, silver, bronze, and finally **** era, 2000 is not the gold/old school era. I like some of the 2000+ songs you mentioned, especially Lay Low, I was going list that one, but it would go against my list.

And like I said, you see many of those songs aren't even what represents old school hip hop in the West Coast to us. A lot of those are plain whack, sorry. But I know there's songs that I think represent old school East Coast that you would not be impressed with. It goes both ways. I think my list has the very best, most popular songs that made the old school West Coast hip hop scene popular and it's an actual old school list not 2000s songs.

Damn bro, how are you gonna do us like that? Nelly is from the south. St Louis, Missouri.

Juvenile is also from the South. I love Juvenile, but he's from New Orleans, that's in Louisiana.

Come on man get your coasts straight

Now I see the problem. You're referring to an era where there WAS no separation of East/West in terms of rap. It was just rap. That's fine - but that's not what you said. Saying the songs are wack simply shows your taste.

The East/West dynamic started with Pac,Dre, Biggie, Nas, Jay-Z, Snoop, LL, etc. In fact, it was Pac who lit the fire of "West Coast" under people's asses when he left Digital Underground and went on his own. SO let's go down your list.

                  10. It was a good day - Cube
                  9. It's funky enough - DOC
                  8. Keep their heads ringin - Dre
                  7. Straight outta Compton - NWA
                  6. Deep Cover - Snoop/Dre
                  5. **** with Dre Day - Dre
                  4. Nuthin but a G thing - Dre
                  3. Gin N Juice - Snoop
                  2. Keep Ya Head up - Pac
                  1. Got my mind made up - Pac

That was intense, I feel like crap for leaving so many out - Nothin but a G thing, Hood took me under, Shorty wanna be a thug, Boyz n the hood remix, Real muthaphuckin Gz, Passin my by, 2 of amerikas most wanted, Brendas got a baby, too many to name.
You have called out effectively four rappers: Cube, Dre, Snoop and Pac.

                  Where's MC Breed?

                  Where's MC Brains?

                  Where's Scarface?

                  Where's Too $hort?

                  Where's Crucial Conflict?

And if you REALLY want to be talking old school...

                  Where's Brotherhood Creed?
Where's R. Kelly (yes, he started as a rapper)?
Where's Bobby Brown (yes, he had rap songs)?
Where's Bell Biv Devoe (yes, they had rap songs)?

                    Missouri is East Coast bro.

And I'll give you Juvenile's home state being Lou, but the song was made popular on the East Coast. Deny that.
