Yep. If he woulda been born anywhere between 1970-1981, then he woulda grew up and been intuned with greatness. I remember when Jazzmatazz came out. I was in high school.

During high school this was the type of music that was and is still poppin' off in the Bay Area.


But I've pretty much stopped listening to a lot of the stuff I used to listen to 2012 and before. Ever since I started listening to MF DOOM and Joey Bada$$ in late 2012 and early 2013 I shifted towards that east coast sound and all of east coast hip-hop.

I've came across tracks from Illmatic or Wu-Tang Forever way back in the day, but never knew much about the artists. I knew it sounded dope, but I stuck to what I knew.. MTV music videos, BET Rap City, and Bay Area music.

My college has one teacher who teaches "Hip-Hop: Culture & Politics" and it basically brought us through the history of hip-hop in its start with DJ Kool Herc through its golden age. Now my music taste is more about me trying to find MCs who can step near Rakim's level.
