So far estimates have Correction officer turned drug lord William Roberts III aka Rick Ross pushing 170k - 180k first week numbers. Isn't that sad after having an all star production team, crazy promotion, cosigns from everybody from diddy to jayz, and features from everybody hot in the game (album had only 1 unfeatured song)?



Maybe it's because the streets ain't ****ing with popo. All the real mobsters hate popo from the REAL Rick Ross to mob heir Carmine Agnello aka Carmine Gotti.





Suffice to say the west coast ain't feeling fake gangsters.

Nobody's really selling records anyway, and a lot of these artists are giving their music away for free or leaking it themselves. As long as he has radio play (Mechanical royalties along with features he's on) and is touring, he'll still make a killing.

Flo-Rida's 1st album bricked, but his digital sales and radio play were through the roof. Call it a sign of the times.

Eminem can sell **** on a stick and it'll go through the roof because his demographic reaches way beyond the typical "Hip Hop Listener". There's rockers, punks, hip hop heads, high school kids, grown adults (trust me on that lol) who all contribute into buying an Eminem album. Rick Ross is never going to be this multi-platinum artist, but with the way the industry is now, he doesn't need to be. He's making more money off royalties off features and his own songs than he would make off even selling 1 million copies. Don't you find it funny how many rappers do features now as opposed to when dudes were consistently selling records in the late 90s - early 2000s? It's all business.

For example, look at the sales of Lil Wayne's Carter III, then look at how much the follow up did. Night and Day. But...is Wayne any less relevant? Absolutely not, and at the end of the day that's really all that matters.
