I want to say "The Adventures of Bobby Ray" is a 5-mic album

And for those of you that have followed my posts on this site, that would make it the first since "The Marshall Mathers LP" and "The Blueprint" in 1999.

The concept is a spin-off from the straightforward songs like "Juicy", "Sky's the Limit", "Lose Yourself", etc. If he had done another clone, he would have been critized for being unoriginal.

Even more mainstream appeal with the crossover collabo. "Generation Lost"-the video put out a while before his album was hella slept on. Anyways dude has a good flow, can sing, and has diverse content.

Damn I cant believe I never heard that song. SICK!!!!

Listened to the whole album, I liked Airplanes & Past My Shades, but everything else was subpar IMO. I tried to listen thru the album a 2nd time but still I'm not feeling his style. That's not to say he's garbage but this was his debut right? So he should get better.
I thought the whole album was sick. One of my favs was fame & the kids don't stand a chance was ight.

5-mics for his debut album is too much. He did released a very good album especially for a debut, but this album is not a classic.

Can you really put this album in the same category as Illmatic, Blueprint, Ready to Die, Me Against The World, OB4CL, etc?

I stand by my review. Maybe the bar has been lowered for what gets 5 mics in today's garbage landscape. I'd rank it ahead of Me Against the World. though. I always thought that was Pac's third or fourth best album behind Makaveli, All Eyez on Me, and maybe even behind the posthumous Still I Rise.

At any rate, it's the first rap album I'm not worried about the 'fast forward' button on, at least since Q-Tip's The Renaissance.
