Nah that isn't true. I play the guitar, bass and played the drums for a while as a kid and can assure you that mastering music software (cubase,logic)/hardware (drum machines etc) is equally as difficult. Some people think because the sounds aren't 'natural' or 'organic' it isn't difficult to make.

It's like I'm not a fan of heavy metal but I won't say it isn't real music because there is obviously a lot of decent stuff out there that I haven't heard. You should show him this vid

          LOL.

          It's all good, bro.

I used to be big on Limp Bizkit when I was younger. My musical tastes have changed since then, but they aren't THAT horrible. We all have some guilty pleasures.

About the hip-hop ain't music thing...

Hip-Hop is most definitely music. At least some hip-hop is. Obviously there is some hip-hop out there, that uninspired, flat, autotune, techno jargon. But to say Illmatic isn't a piece of music...

Those who play the piano take the notes they're given and hit the keys in a certain sucession, and at certain intervals of time to make a collection of notes and sounds we call a song.

Sampling is essentially the same thing. I'm not talking about that Kanye West sampling, taking a a snippet of a famous song, changing the pitch and looping it. I'm talking about breaking down and cutting up a sample so much that you can't even tell it's a sample.

This is Jel. It may not fit the hip-hop mold, but he's pretty much making a beat.

And as Mushroom posted already, there are bands like the Roots, a band with a rapper.

Here's one of my favorite producers.

thanks man. this is cool stuff. I agree making a beat takes talent, ecspecially when your doing it on that level.

about limp bizkit. its weird because I stopped listening to them back in probably freshman year of high school.(8 years ago) but earlier this year I going through one those looking back at my past moments...and I was remebered that I likem them alot in middle school and early high school. So I youtubed alot of that stuff, and at first I was like...nah this isnt me anymore. But then all of sudden something struck a cord, and I like their stuff again. Coincidently, I hear like a week a later that the group is back and are going to record a new album...world tour etc. and thats how it all came about.

I mean, technically people call this kinda **** "trip-hop" electronica type stuff. With this I'm gettin' into the realm of "that's not even hip-hop" but still. I'm not even completely aware of dude's process, but this has been one of my favorite "trip-hop/electronica" albums for a while now.

I was raised on rock 'n roll like Deep Purple, Zeppelin, Steppenwolf, etc. But I still love rap - It speaks to an entire generation and has had to battle to be recognized as a legitimate genre. Now like every music genre, it has it's joke artists, but it's still a genre nonetheless.
