From a whole it's Jay. All of the newer atrists strive to be Jay and pattern themselves off of him. I don't know why a lot of artists would just pattern themselves off of one rapper but hey that's how it is. He has the most respect. Maybe not from underground but from mainstream and most artists he gets it.

I don't think Nas gets a ton of respect. I think the hip hop heads and fans of talent do though. But a lot of his stuff just goes over people's head. Not that he's too complex or anything but the attention span of who's buying records is short. They are not trying to listen to ill lines and such. And Nas style isn't just catered to just riding out to his music.

Nas may be my GOAT but in terms of most respected rapper alive...
i have to go with Rakim or KRS-One.
a lot of people don't even know much of their material and yet they back them simply out of respect. especially Rakim.

Exactly.. Records that are selling are the ones that are made to just vibe to. I love Nas but he's not gonna appeal to the average Hip Hop fan with his sound.
