    Hip Hop Album Sales: Week Ending 9/7/08

    Def Jam recording artist Young Jeezy takes the top spot with his highly anticipated junior album Recession [click to read] selling 259,700 in its first week. The Game [click to read] takes #3 with LAX [click to read] selling 88,700. He was beat out by a new release from the re-united New Kids on the Block, respectively.

    After reigning the charts for weeks, Lil Wayne [click to read] clings to the top 10 this week, selling 46,500 more copies of his double platinum album Tha Carter III [click to read]. Rihanna's re-release of Good Girl Gone Bad holds down the #13 spot with 32,100 copies sold. Rounding out the top 5 for Hip Hop and R&B is Diddy's newest protoge, Donny Klang. Though he couldn't match the sucess of Danity Kane and Day 26's [click to read] #1 albums, Donny makes his mark this week at #19 on the charts, selling just under 22,000 copies.

    Top 200 Album Sales (Top 5 Hip Hop/R&B) Ice Cube [click to read] comes in at #26 with 18,400 copies sold of Raw Footage [click to read]. MTV reality stars Shwayze hold down the #35 spot with their self-titled album selling 12,100 copies this week.M.I.A's Kala climbs five spots to #43 this week with 10,600 copies sold. Nas holds on to the #45 position with 10,100 copies of his Untitled [click to read] album sold this week, while Slim Thug's supergroup Boss Hogg Outlawz debut their sop****re album, Back By Blockular Demand, at #48 with 9,700 copies sold.

    Jeezy's numbers are weak. An album like that deserved a lot more.

      Really? Those numbers are what's good right now. Game and Rick Ross sold in that same range.

            Haven't gotten around to The Recession still playing LAX at the moment. I personally thought Trilla was fire.
