**I actually agree with you American Gangster. I know at first I said it was a classic, but I think that was going too far looking back at it.*** It was good though. I agree with your rating.
All the volumes were okay. Not classic in my opinion. I think Jay really struggled to appeal to both sides. He focused too much on party ish. Now there was some good content on some of the albums. But not consistently to be considered great in my opinion.

fair enough. I personally think volume 1 and the black album were classics. We'll have to agree to disagree like Larry Merchant says.

I think Volume 1 was solid but not classic. Their were a few tracks I could have done without, but I agree Black Album is a classic album.

yeah its a close call for me. i've tried to think the black album wasn't a classic and i couldn't. I just don't hear it as not one...I hear a classic rap album.

This is how i got them rated

            Classics
RD (top 10 all time, many say top 5)
Blueprint (helped change the game, top 5 of the 2k's)
In My lifetime vol 1 (How can it not be a classic?)

            4.5/5
            Black Album
            American Gangster

            4/5
            Life and times Vol. 3

            3.5/5
Hard knock life vol.2 (I dont count this against jay-z...only 3 songs didnt have guest appearances)
Dynasty (Has some great songs but its kind of like HKL with the guest app)
Blueprint 2 (I like this one better then i used to but i've never been a fan of double cd's)

            3/5
Kingdom Come (Had about 6 or 7 songs i liked)

I'd say thats a very fair rating you gave. I actually agree with those ratings besides...you know how I feel about the black album. lol I'm a black album stan.

yeah dynasty wasn't really a solo album, more like a Rocafella album. Jay was on the cover to sell it, but it was a callab album. I also agree with you about BP2, it grew on me( I actually realized I slept on it for a while, until I listened to it through)...but I think one cd is enough.

Its all good....I strongly believe jay-z has dropped 3 classics and hes never dropped a wack album. Im not hating on you considering the black album a classic...i have no problem with that opinion. Thats respectable. I said in another thread that i wouldnt be able to respect someone calling the Carter 3 a classic just because lil wayne is not good enough lyrically. The Carter 2 on the other hand fits right into this thread...a classic made in the 2000's.

Volume 1 isnt a classic IMO because it had "I Know What Girls Like", and "Sunshine"... I hated both of those songs. Other than those 2 , its a great great album.

yeah its not like I'm saying volume 3 was a classic...lol. That would be bad...volume 3 was good but not a classic.

I have no problem with you not thinking the black album is a classic, I notice alot of people don't rate it as one. And like I said other than that I agreed with your ratings...they seemed accurate to me.

I can understand you not thinking Vol. 1 was a classic...its kind of an outlaw opinion. Its not like everyone believes that...its close for me. It depends on how you determine classics...everyone has their guidelines.
