    The D.O.C.

    Damn...I had barely heard none of this guy but I just was ****ing around on youtube and listened to some of his ****. This guy is dope as **** and was way ahead of his time.

    How do you heads rate him in terms of legends and when did he stop rapping? Was it after the accident?

    Yeah his voice was ****ed. He just ghost writes now. ANd he ghost wrote on the Chronic. And I read online he ghost wrote for Snoop too.

    I haven't heard his solo. But I heard a few of his joints of that album. And I heard his verses on the first NWA album. He was nice everytime I heard him.

      Yeah, he was pretty much the originator of gangster rap.

      I rate his album 'No One Can Do It Better' in my top 10 hip hop albums of all time. If it wasn't for the accident, he would have gone down as one of the greatest MC's to grace the mic, unfortunately lack of material won't see such a thing.

      A definite Legend though.

        His first album came out in like 1989, so he can't be the originator of gangster rap. "No one can do it better" is a great album. Even his next album after the accident was good, weird and odd, but good. "Helter Skelter" was the name I think.

          He was ghostwriting on NWA's debut and wrote most of Eazy E's lyrics. He laid the foundations for how gangster rap sounded. He was just as influential to the scene before his debut was released. Not to mention he ghostwrote for Dre on the Chronic and Snoop on 'Doggystyle' and was the driving force behind their fame. He was the force behind gangster rap, not to mention one of the greatest lyricists of all time.

            He was a force, certainly. I'm not trying to take anything away from him. I was right there waiting for his comeback album after the throat injury, I was just disagreeing that he's "the originator of gangster rap". "It's funky enough" is one of the top 10-15 hip hop songs of all time. One of my favorite beats of all time too.

              I'm just a little biased towards D.O.C cus he's one of my favourite artists. You heard much of his stuff in the Fila Fresh Crew? As a lyricist, i'll easily put him aside the likes of Rakim, Nas and KRS-One.

              I've never really been into anything Ice T has put out. I can see his influence, just his style never does it for me.

              I'll have to give Scholly D a listen.

              Whats 'Desire' like? I was gonna buy it a few months ago....Internal Affairs is a classic so i'll probably get it anyway.
