To commit suicide you must be suffering from mental illness. It takes a lot to do that. I believe a large percentage of those rioters were mentally ill.

Nothing suggests this mand who killed himself was mentally ill. He committed suicide because he was about to face serious consequences for his actions probably for the first time in his life.

There's "facing" 10 years in prison, and then there's actually getting 10 years in prison.

Remember the case of Brock Turner, who got away with raping a girl because he's "from a good family", had "very high grades" and "too young" for his life to be destroyed with prison according to the judge? The judge also said that the **** victim should have been told that pressing charges on Turner would ruin his life.

Do you know what would happen to me in that situation? With coming from a poor family and being a minority? In NYC, i'd be facing a max of 25 years, with a minimum sentence of 5 years. I'd be put on probation for 10 years, and register as a *** offender for a minimum of 20 years and maximum *** offender registration for life.

This guy who you spoke about, he'd likely get probation. Ain't sh/t going to happen to most of those rioters. Definitely not compared to if the crowd was black and latinos. US prisons were made just in time around the time states were abolishing slavery, for a reason. Some people say the justice system is broken. It's not, it works perfectly fine. It works as intended. To keep the poor as ******. But like we say in boxing, "a cherrypick gone wrong", a percentage of white people are part of the poor. They weren't supposed to be. The poor are supposed to be blacks and latinos. So actually if the justice system is broken is only because too many white people are in it, which was not their intentions.

tldr; That dude was white, he had nothing to be afraid of in the justice system. It wasn't built for him. It was built for you and I. Probably could afford a good lawyer. He killed himself because he wasn't all up there, like most of his kind.

Loss of status in community is something he also couldn't live with, that's a punishment within itself. About to lose his job. His house, cars, divorce.

Never had to get it from the mud so he dont know how to take a loss & come back. His life was over before even considering prison time
