Ever had to ex-communicate a family member for your own sake?

    As above.

Have you ever had to make a difficult decision to ex-communicate a family member for your own wellbeing?

Yeah, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Some family members can be toxic.

It’s pretty tough man. Do you mind asking about your story? Was it parent? Brother/sister?

      What made you do it?

I don't want to get into too much detail, but it's my older brother. It wasn't any particular incident, but our relationship just fizzled out gradually, he's like 8 years older.

It's just best for all parties involved for me to not deal with him. I still love him and wish him the best because he's my blood and he's still my parent's oldest son. But sometimes, you realize can't help anyone who's not willing tobhimself. That's all I can really say, sorry to be a bit vague, but it's a very personal topic.

Understood mate. Appreciate the overview and admire your positive outlook on the matter.

As you said, you are blood but sometimes it’s best for all parties. I’ve seen the same with my uncles, it’s sometimes bothered my grandparents but not as much as it would’ve if they interacted frequently

Was it a sibling or parent?

My issue is that it’s my mom. Which is really hard to accept

No, I have not even though one of my siblings sees me as ATM and ask money often. I dont think I have ex communicated any of my cousins or any relative too.

Likewise tbh. I generally get along with everyone, when it’s a parent you give them extra slack when they are difficult, then you start hoping they will change, that they don’t mind mean what they say and one day they will treat you as a son.

When that day comes they are old so you justify there attitude on the basis they are getting old.

In reality can be a case of needing to step back and realising you should’ve done it long ago
