    Question about the electoral college?

Disclaimer: Not trying to make this a political debate. I have completely given up on politics as it seems like all they do is diss each other all day and get nothing done. They are all ****ing crooks to me. But I digress.

With the voting mail in thing ***** is talking about. I remember Bernie beat Hillary is a few states in regards to voters, but Clinton still won because of the electoral college

***** actually lost the popular vote too I believe.

So in theory if 80% voted ***** and the electoral college wants ***** will they still get *****?

I was under the impression the electoral college has the final say but I could be misinformed. So *****s claims arent making sense to me if votes don't matter

That's what I figure as well.

Popular vote (actually citizens' votes) don't mean s.hit really. If the electoral college votes in favor of the opposite, what the majority of citizens actually want, doesn't matter.

In theory the electors have to vote based on the result of the popular votes for their district... but since elections are run by the states and not the federal govt, everyone has their own rules like winner takes all or split distribution based on popular votes percentages.

However, electors can ignore the result of the popular votes altogether if they feel that it’s tainted or some other reason.

As for Bernie and Hillary, Bernie won more popular votes during the 2016 DNC primary but Hillary for whatever reason won more delegates... in the end, it’s their party and they can choose who they want to nominate for the general election.

Exactly. I understand why it's in place because those people are suppose to be experts, but it could definitely go the other way pretty fast I feel if somebody offered them a big enough check

Not 100% on how the Dems run their show, but nationally 48 states give all their electoral votes to the popular vote winner. A couple states do a half and half thing where 2 votes are used on the popular vote and the rest on some basis of the voting in congressional districts. There is no shenanigans on the national level like we saw with the Dems.

Just would be nice if we said **** parties and just voted for the best person

By the way, don’t confuse primary elections with the general elections, where the electoral college is at play.

The concern ***** raised regarding mail-in voting pertains to the general election.

Politics are no better then the bloods and crips because that's how they act. Petty, reckless, lie cheat and steal, but they still love them because of party color

True dat... and since we’re about to enter the general election campaign season, the “turf war” is about to get real.

I hate to tell you this but this is why ***** won the last election.
You want free elections. Dems said nope you get Clinton.
Rs said hell no never ***** but the people fought the party and ***** won.

The difference is, the DNC won't let this happen. They have in their mind who you should vote for. They tell you what you need to do and you do it.
