My father and his brother, my uncle, were musicians and big fans of Little Richard, so even though I grew up in the 70's, he was one of my first musical influences, along with a whole odd mishmash of styles and genres. Definitely a "pioneer" as TBear says; and an all time great. I lived in Nashville for several years and you could count on seeing Little Richard pretty regularly at this landmark restaurant off of Murfreesboro Rd. Everybody respected him and he was always very friendly, when approached. True legend.
