Depends how hands on or hands off you want to be. You can use Robinhood if you want to be hands on and betterment or weatherfront if you want a robo advisor. I personally use fidelity for my Roth IRA and my brokerage account because it's versatile. I can do long term and short term investing if I so choose.

for beginner, you may want to think long term investment and just invest in mutual funds or etf, instead of individual stock. though individual stock could gain more but that is also more risk and need more research.

You can get your money anytime. The return is dependent on the funds or stock or bond you choose, as a matter of a fact, you can also lose money. More reward, more risk.

You can, but there are higher taxes if you take your money out within a period of time. Thinking long term is the best way to start imo.
