What do you guys think of the Amish?

i watch people like this or them from a distance... ***ish and know it all me... i laugh at so many misguided religious people... hey to each his own... as long as they do not go out like bothering me or my family with their interpretation of religion.. i am no expert... i am ***... grew up ***.. and read hebrew,,,

I think the Amish are pretty cool because even though they have tight-knit, closed-off communities, there is a practice of letting their youths who have been raised that way to go off for a couple years and experience life outside the community, to help them decide if they really want to stay as Amish or not. They call it 'Rumspringa' (translated as 'jumping/hopping around'), and it starts at like 14-16, so Google tells me. Anyway, I think that's cool because even though the Amish are a segregated people, they give their youths some freedom like that, which is not the case with other closed-off communities, like Jehovah's Witnesses or Scientologists or whatever

Also, is a great comedy film about an Amish guy who wants to be a ten-pin bowling champion

They are principled and community minded.
