Macbook Pro: 8gb RAM and 512 SSD vs 16gb of Ram 256 SSD, Which Do You Recommend?

In the end this isn’t a discussion between a Mac or PC it’s about 8GB ram and 512 SSD or 16GB ram and 256 SSD. With that said what do you recommend for a user who doesn’t really game but is a big multi tasker with several background apps open. This in regards to the next 5-8 years.

I was saying “Mac” as in Macbook Pro. It’s too long of a title to keep repeating. I consider the desktop Mac as an “iMac”.

I would say 16gb/256gb but that’s an awfully small amount of storage. I do prefer more RAM though.

I don’t know if it’s because of where I grew up and where i’ve worked (prison)...but I just find it baffling that so many little hoes post here with their little internet personas. after the Catalina update, my macbook is badboy, i love it. i bet they had been working on that update for years. go for 16gb ram, you can always upgrade storage, i think its cheaper upgrading storage rather then ram. if youre gonna get one, get 1 with a touch bar

I've been struggling with this one, Best buy is running a good deal on the 8gb RAM 512 SSD, however, should one prioritize RAM heading into the future. Is 8GB of RAM on a Mac enough to hold someone over heading into the next 5-8 years.

Either way you need more hard drive space!!!...8 gigs of Ram is not enough for a 512 ssd and you’ll consume storage quickly slowing your Mac down and causing crashes...Get at least a 1TB hard drive and minimum 8gb but I’d recommend 16 gigs...if you wanna stay between those 2 choices then swap out that 256 ssd for at least the 512 ssd...your Mac will move fast and smoothly at least...otherwise 16 gigs and 1TB is what I’d recommend assuming your model year MacBook Pro can accommodate the upgrades in question!!!...Good Luck!!!...

A Mac is overpriced and has shytty specs for the price. If you're going for a desktop, build your own. If youre going for a laptop, don't go for a Macbook. There are companies out there that can customize your laptop with all the bells and whistles along with the build quality of a Mac. Like Falcon Northwest, they've been in the business for almost 30 years, they also have excellent customer service.
