I smoked a pack a day for like 4 years and then quit. Haven't smoked in 11 years this year.

I personally never tried quitting before really quitting, so i had no failed attempts, when I decided to quit I just went cold turkey and never smoked cigs again and that was it, no slow quitting, no last cig, no patch, no nicotine spray, none of that shït, one night out of the blue i said to myself "why are you smoking? are you addicted?" and that scared me enough to throwthe cig pack away.

I think in my case not having failed at quitting before was a blessing and a curse, it was good because it gave me confidence and it was bad that i didn't know what to expect.

What came after that is 2 very tough weeks especially in the morning, i used to have a cig early in the morning and it was very essential for me, that was the hardest one to quit. After that I went through the overeating phase where i substituted cigs with food for like 2 months, i put on like 15 kg of good old fat during this time. After that i realized i was getting fat and i started cleaning up my lifestyle and that was it.

When i quit i made sure not to put any extra stress on myself during that time so that i don't relapse, i didn't do sports, i meditated a whole lot and discovered electronic music, my favorite form of meditation was driving around late at night listening to trance music, i'd do that for 3 hours every night and i never felt as good as i felt after these sessions. learning how to relax without drugs is key.

Very rewarding experience in hindsight. Something i'm truly proud of. if you really want to quit you will, that's the bottom line.

I smoked from 12-around 25 years old. When they went to "fire safety proof" is when I quit. I started getting headaches and would smoke half a cig instead of a full one. Then just a few drags. Then I asked myself why I was still smoking lol. I then just quit. I avoided bars and chain smoking friends for a few months. Eventually I never craved a cig again. Now smokers smell like ashes to me lol. I was a menthol smoker. Newports and then Marlboro menthol.

It takes time. Even one month off of cigarettes you think everything is going well until you get distracted. I was surrounded by cigarette smokers whether at work, home, friends, etc. I got rid of smoking in my comfort zone and what I mean by that is waking up, after eating, lunch break, boredom, etc. It's a self control test that requires a lot of mental strength and patience.

One day at a time, track your results, and reward yourself for the days you avoided the urge to smoke. The urge comes for a couple of seconds and after that back to normal.

It’s going to take a month to get the chemicals out of your system. Either just don’t smoke, or get an ecig. Use it exclusively for them month and toss it. Get a Juul at 5% nicotine, half way through the month switch to 3% by the end of the month, you’ll have gotten sick at least once, that’s your body clearing up your lungs. At the end of the month toss the Juul. You won’t like the smell of smoke or the taste of it either. You’ll get the craving from time to time just don’t give it. And yeah don’t buy the news bullshhh it’s no ecigs killing people it’s vitamin e in weed cartridges. The nicotine is wayyyy easier to kick than the chemicals in cigarettes.

                3 things worked for me.

                1. You're a nicotine addict so treat it as such, no nicotine replacement.

                2. Keep the same habits, if you go for a smoke break at work keep going for that break. If you go outside for a smoke at home go out without a smoke. Eat food instead if you have to you can lose the weight later.

                3. And most important, get leverage on yourself. The best way to do this is to work out how much you'll save from not smoking over the next 2 or 3 years and spend that money, NOW.

Not when you've saved it, get a loan or use credit if you have to, then youre trapped. You have to quit and of course buy something you can enjoy in place of smoking. I bought a boat and an iPad on credit.

It's not a matter of 'can't quit'... if someone put a gun to your head, you wouldn't be smoking... you just haven't found the right motivation yet... find a good reason to quit and you're golden... money, ***, food... smoking is expensive... the nicest girls don't smoke... you can actually taste your food when you don't smoke... etc
