For the non-Americans who don't understand the complexity of football

To the untrained eye it looks like guys just running and smashing into each other. But it's really a high skilled, fast paced chess match where all 22 players on the field are making decisions in 3 seconds or less. This is a good video breakdown to show how complex the game is and how decisions are made

Oh yeah. These aren't the professionals. These are the amateurs. The professional game is played at a higher skill level with even faster and bigger players.

the on/off nature of the game puts me off... and it takes HOURS

          play - stop - play - stop - play - stop - play - stop

and whats up with changing the teams over every 5 minutes ?

the fat boys can't run... and the small guys can't tackle ?

we select guys who can play the whole game... not just part of it

            oh, nearly forgot...

Christian Cullen is the best running fullback EVER !

especially watch his All Black tries from 2.15

You summed it up nicely. Football isnt spontaneous enough for me with constant stalling, huddles, etc.. it’s annoying.

              Game flow sucks

I don't doubt that. But what I'm saying is this game is a lot more complex than what non football fans think it is. On the football field every step matters and is made with a purpose. Complex decisions are being made in seconds. With the pressure of a 6' 5" 240lb man coming at you to take your head off

even rugby league is a bit like that sometimes... not enough continuity

it's ok if you have been watching league continually, like in the middle of the season... you seem to adjust to the pace... but if I have been watching rugby and then check out a game of league, I find the limited tackle count and continual stoppage of play annoying

the main difference between league/grid-iron... and rugby...

in league/grid-iron, the possession is " shared "... in rugby, you have to win the ball... if you don't win the ball, you don't ever get the ball

grid-iron is ok... but not sure if I could watch a whole game

football is a game I have been watching a bit more over the last few years... british soccer, I mean... it's not like rugby of course, but you do see some WICKED skills in that game... phenomenal... I can see why that game is so popular

Football really highlights what it means to be a team sport, every position plays a vital role.

The O-Line has to Prevent the D-Line from reaching the QB, the QB who has an average of 2-3 seconds to throw or hand off the ball or run and has to make the call, in turn his Wide receivers only have 2-3 seconds to get down field. The Running back who has to pick up the blitz and protect the QB, or take the ball and find a hole that his line created for him. The kicker who is underrated but highly important can decide whether a team wins or loses. Like I said every position plays a role.
