        Well everyone won't be billionaires.

All that will happen is the price of gold will crash if they ever bring this back.

All the gold in the world only makes up cube 60ft I think

Great news for tech devices that use gold.

They probably got planets out there that are mostly diamond and gold.

Psyche 16 is nestled between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter and is made of solid metal.

As well as gold, the mysterious object is loaded with heaps of platinum, iron and nickel.

In total, it's estimated that Psyche's various metals are worth a gargantuan $10,000 quadrillion.

That means if we carried it back to Earth, it would destroy commodity prices and cause the world's economy – worth $75.5 trillion – to collapse.

We've known about Psyche 16 for a while, but its potential to cause havoc on Earth was recently touched upon by a veteran miner.

Scott Moore, who heads up EuroSun Mining, said the sheer amount of gold in the asteroid threatens to throw the gold industry into chaos.

"The 'Titans of Gold' now control hundreds of the best-producing properties around the world," he told Oil Price.

"But the 4-5 million ounces of gold they bring to the market every year pales in comparison to the conquests available in space."

Nasa is launching a mission to probe the asteroid in summer 2022. Dubbed the Discovery Mission, it will arrive at Psyche 16 around 2026.

But bringing back an asteroid of this value could completely wipe out our global economy.

Fortunately, the space agency is taking the trip for scientific purposes and isn't planning on conducting any mining.

It reckons 16 Psyche is a survivor of violent hit-and-run collisions between planets which were common when the solar system was forming.

That means it could tell us how Earth’s core and the cores of the other terrestrial planets were formed.

Two space mining companies – backed by big name celebs – are gearing up for a gold rush after asteroid ownership was made legal in 2015.

Deep Space Industries and Planetary Resources each have their eyes on the 2011 UW158 asteroid which is twice the size of the Tower of London and worth up to $5.7 trillion.
I actually think it will collapse the market coz that means gold will be worth as a peice of rock

            Not that worthless.

            Probably the price of aluminum

Will reduce the price of phones, tablets and other electronics.

it would be like those african countries, whose names are escaping me, that started printing more and more money when their economies started going down.

it would cause hyper inflantion and completely collapse the price of gold.

              gold would be worthless.

Does this mean we should all invest in silver? Or what natural resource goes up in value if the gold price goes down? Or does this mean all the pretty rocks get devalued & we enter into a Mad Max universe where water costs as much as gold does now?

If it did happen, the economy would collapse, as many countries have their reserves in gold, and they would lose trillions just like that.

Maybe you will see some rises in other precious metals not apart of this asteroid.

How does the economy collapse cuz we just found a bunch of gold? Ain't the someone, whoever retrieves it, super rich now & they can trickle down the money to everyone in their country? Or even the world potentially to keep everything cool.

Or if this is true does that mean if we found some huge insane amount of gold tomorrow on Earth that the economy is crashing too? And if thats they case wouldn't the move be to keep it secret if you found a ton of gold on Earth or off Earth?

If they decide to sell it, it will flood the market, and supply and demand will push the price down.

Imagine if a billion Bugatti Chirons were made. The company will sell them for much cheaper as they want to sell them. Anyone who got one will see there's lose value as there will be many cheap one they can get.

If you kept it secret, you could not sell it.

If NASA did bring it back then the US will own it, and can control how much is sold will will dictate the price some what buy storing it and keeping it off the market. And only releasing a bit at a time.

You might then see a slow depreciation.
