Joining The US Military Has Incredible Perks Later In Life

Heck no! I'm 28, and I'm glad that in the next 20 years I'd probably be completely worthless to any military, bwahahaha. They ain't gettin' my prime, or my punching power! I'm not going to be a paid hitman.
I doubt it's as cozy as you're making it out to be. A lot of people come back with PTSD, whether it's official or not. They come back changed people. Doing evil shiz does that to you, realizing that you're just a pawn in pointless wars for the rich, as Slobberts said. And even if you don't come back as a dark shadow of yourself, it changes you in other ways.
I've met a few vets, including one of my girlfriend's brothers. Her whole family made a big deal about his joining the army. They even pressured her into getting a tattoo with dog tags about him, and she got it. It's still on her to dis day, though she hates them cuz they racist. Anyhow, the vets I've met nearly all let that shiz go to their heads. They think "assassinating" people, as one put it, makes them tough. I don't believe wiping out a buncha poor people in the desert is anything to brag about. To get to the point: Their egos didn't reflect reality. I noticed her brother was trying to get tough tough around me, with his skinny ass. He never did anything direct, but I could tell that he was trying to put up a front. I've also met another one that even though he was in his 50s-60s seemed to think he could beat me up, lol, because he practiced some weird martial art where you use the other person's force against them to keep them off. It's not jujitsu or anything. It's the other one that literally has no real combat purpose and is about keeping people away from you lol. I literally just stared at him and let him keep running his mouth, all the while thinking to myself that in a sparring match he'd be easy work. It wasn't a beef situation, but the dude was just boasting about himself >.> That's not to say that all of them are like that, but usually, just like law enforcement, the ppl that do this kind of work have ego issues or lack general empathy. I've met one that was a cool guy. He had worked in something having to do with tech, though. A pretty down to earth dude, so there are exceptions.
In general, though, no way, man. I don't believe in that shiz, nor do I want to turn into a monster.
Edit: OOH! I forgot one! There was this other dude that I met, an old guy. He was actually pretty funny. We got along pretty well. He was in one of those electric wheel chairs and kept trying to prank me by trying to get the women around us to check me out or go "on a date" with me. I thought he was going to get me in trouble with that shiz, but nothing happened. Worst part was when he told these two white chicks that they should go on a date with me. The chicks just started looking at me and giggling to themselves, like if they were actually interested. O_O. Then you know what the dude said? He's just like "He ****d me." And the chicks kept giggling. lol He was an old perv but had a good sense of humor, as weird as that whole story is. As to his livelihood, though, the poor guy didn't have a car or anyone to take care of him. He just literally rode on the electric wheelchair everywhere he went.Last edited by todisday; 03-03-2019, 05:14 PM.

Just as easy as you get in, you can get kicked out and ruin a lot for yourself. Many go in and don't even know how to play the cards when they get out. So essentially you just end up where you were before in many cases. Or worse off.

Man, every time I see those commercials where they try to rationalize a dude missing arms and legs and having a hugely disfigured, burnt face, and show him walking around like he's happy, dear lord, I notice what a dystopia we live in.
If you can bear losing yo face and limbs, we'll give you a home loan!

Lotsa military guys live in & visit Vegas & there is no place I've lived where there was more people missing limps. I happened to be downtown when Gary Sinese was in town having a concert to raise money for injured military people & sh^t was like a shark victim parade.
But Jim ain't wrong. Plenty of my family were in or are in the military. I have a cousin who's going for that nice pension plan to pad his finances in middle age. There are some solid perks.
There are risks doe & some pretty great ones. Plenty of military vets end up with lifelong issues that lower their quality of life & lead them down dark paths once they re-enter civilian life. Seems like there are a lot of homeless vets too.

Yes, or getting maimed and lose limbs or become disfigured.
Maybe suffer mental health issues, go crazy or commit suicide.
Or just perhaps end up homeless and not get any help from the govt with medical bills, housing or anything else.
