It really depends on which tier of city you go to. Yes, their major cities are some of the most advanced in the world, but outside of them much of China hasn't changed in decades and 10s of millions of people still live in relative poverty, and don't have access to basic things that we take for granted her.
Not to mention, the huge real estate bubble, and poorly built ghost cities they have.

      GDP 2000
      China 1.2 Trillion
      America 10.2 Trillion

      GDP 2017
      China 12.2
      America 19.3

By 2030 China will overtake America economically at current growth rates.

Sure is, and the parallels between the book and reality are pretty apparent. It wouldn't be such a big leap for us all to end up living it.

-China has had an economic explosion because of manufacturing and its advantage of low cost wages from billions of people
-China has a hive mind that has devalued personal innovation for thousands of years.
-China doesnt really invent or create much that hasnt been stolen from another country
-There is a robotic revolution on the horizon which will do away with China's economic advantage. Countries will manufacture at home
-China KNOWS this and subsequently has flooded the United States and Britains high learning institutions in an attempt to train their people to think for themselves (Break the hive mind).
-China needs to invent and move towards a service economy to maintain their rising star status. Its too late because it takes generations to truly break the hive mind

I conduct business in China/APAC and this ^^^ isnt fabricated or out of line. This ^^^ is something in China executives freely admit to and discuss...Its why the Chinese buy up real estate and seek dual citizenship. They know the economy can and potentially will look very different over the next 10-15 years.

Europe ? As in the EU? Lmao let's see how long that last the better countries in that organization are starting to realize why should they continue to stay in that sinking ship. Germany might leave next.
