You are comparing a country of 24 million to a country of over 300 million. Australia doesn't have borders being compromised by millions of illegal aliens and their system is paid into by a higher percentage of residents who pay taxes. Australia doesn't have a significant sub-culture of lazy free loaders who leach off the government. They also don't have the same trade deficits, defense spending, immigration challenges, and other burdens to society.

plenty is a drop in the bucket since latinos are the second largest minority group to recieve welfare. hispanics do work but many still fall below the poverty line since they don't make enough and tend to have huge households that depend on socialist programs. sounds like you've never been outside of the southwest or your state for that matter if you're asking this. grass doesn't cut itself in Montana.

This is false. The Australian sub-culture of the "dole bludger" is well established and in some ways glorified. In Australia however there is a program called "work for the dole" where people have to actually work/seek work after a certain time or risk having their benefits cut which is a positive and slightly limits the drain on the economy.

Australia has one of the very best standards of living in the world but has comparatively high tax rates with most of the developed world. Corporate tax rate in Australia is 30% or 27.5% for small business. Top marginal tax rate is 46.5% including medicare levy which is part of the reason why people like Fox man Rupert Murdoch left for the USA.
