just been doing some thinking and reflecting and im
interested to get peoples perspectives on what was the best years that youve experienced and whether you really appreciated it at the time.
For me i think it was my college/6th form years (thats pre university in the uk) and the start of university.
But what i find sad, is that although on reflection looking back on it those were some great years with some brilliant memories, when i experienced things at that time i was always looking into the future rather than the present. I didnt realise how good things were back then.
I was always thinking that when i earned more money i would be much happier. Always striving to be in better shape, more money ,better transport to impress people with etc. And now things have improved in them respects, im here thinking that the previous years were better.
I think its drummed into people at an early age that they have to be 'ambitious', they have to strive for more to be considered a success in society.
I think this 'ambition' is really a facade for unhappiness, in the sense that you are pinning your hopes on external factors to bring you a sense of happiness, rather than addressing your perception of your current situation. Although maybe thats just human nature in general, you always feel like you need more. Even rich people feel they need more money.
Sorry if its a bit of a gloomy thread and ive gone off on a bit of a tangent, but yeah what do others put down as there best years and did you really appreciate them at the time or did you spend your time looking into the future?
