[HOLY S**T!] True Detective Season 3 starting Mahershala Ali

Wow! Where the **** have I been? Apparently this was already announced but it somehow got past me. True Detective is back and season 3 will star the best actor working today, Mahershala Ali! He was the best character, Cottonmouth in the Luke Cage series as well as his powerful performance in Moonlight. I'm amped to see this!




The 1st season of this show was the greatest cop drama I've yet to see. Personally, I think it topped The Wire and Homicide: Life On The Street. The second season was kind of a drag compared to season one but Colin Farrell was great as Detective Ray Velcoro.

Plus, the 3rd season will be solely written by Pizzolato and directed by Jeremy Saulnier which is a great sign because he certainly seems to be a talented cat in the director's chair. He directed one of the best movies of 2013, this great revenge flick called Blue Ruin. Haven't seen it you should check it out. He also directed another acclaimed movie I have yet to see called Green Room. Regardless, here's the synopsis and link to the article.

We already knew that Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, The Place Beyond the Pines) was set to star, so many outlets are labeling this greenlight something of a “formality”. Along with the announcement came this rather sparse premise:

“…the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods. Ali will play the lead role of Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas.”

I'm guessing the same way some backwoods Georgia peckerwood names his kid Billy Bob or Cletus or the way some chop suey slingin' Chinaman names his kid Wang Dang or whatever it may be.

Not sure about him being the best actor, but he's all right. I know him from House of Cards, he was decent there.

True Detective's Season 2 ****** terribly and I didn't even bother watching the last two episodes.

Season 1 was brilliant. It was a little anticlimactic, but it was so dark and gritty. Loved it. I hope Season 3 is more like that one.

I concur! Season 1 was fantastic. In my opinion the Colin Farrell performance was wasted in Season 2.

I agree, Colin Farrell was great on that show. Very interesting character wasted on a ****ty season. Rachel McAdams was great too.

I liked the scene where Farrell beat up his son's bully's dad lol. But the season went downhill after that.
