BTW I kinda got the attention of these 2 girls on the train in Japan, but let me explain...
It started when I noticed a kid around 16 or 17 reading a big Manga book. I noticed it, because we've been on the same train for almost and hour and he hasn't taken his eyes from it. When the train stopped, the kid got out, but he forgot his book on the seat. I quickly grabbed it and ran to give it to him as I yelled Matte!(he was already on another train).
When I'm about to get back on my train, the door closes. Somehow the locomotive operator seemed to noticed what happened and opened the door for me and I got in. Then these 2 girls around 22 or 23 who were on the train, start looking at me and teasing me saying matte and laughing as they sit right next to me. I smiled and said nothing cause I don't know the language, this happened for around 10 minutes.
The crazy part of this story was that after being in Nara Park all day for around 6 to 7 hours and eating in a restaurant, we get back on the train to head to the Airbnb we were staying and that same kid was on the train STILL reading that damn Manga book, it was nuts

I've run into people many times on the trains in situations like you describe. Japan can be a lot of fun if you know where to go.Comment
