^^ hes the man to ask.

I work alot on Linux. So C, at&t 32 bit x86 assembly, perl , bash scripting.

Ive started with python. It seems all the rage.

Going to learn powershell and maybe vbscripting because im working more on windows.

I have no intention of learning C++ or Java!

If youve not programmed before i suggest python?

On windowsnor linux. Python3.5 is the latest i believe.

Or maybe Ruby. Very easy languages.

Depends what you want to do tho.

        Brometheus can recommend something .

Nothing specific really. I would like to learn a language thats the most universal used. Or isnt there any programming language that can help you with the other languages? Maybe C++?

I learned visual basics a long time ago but ive forgotten it.

I think Python is a good place to start.

It's not the most difficult to learn and has a large community support/libraries for doing a variety of things (like data analysis or web development).

As a guy who does mostly web app development, I haven't seen much C or C++ since college. My impression is that they are heavily used in financial systems (especially when trading is involved), in computer games, in other desktop applications (operating systems, browsers etc), and in hardware level software. So if you had specific interests in one of those arenas, C++ might ultimately be more useful to learn.

I second what Bob said, based of what you want to build but something like Python should be a good start and Java if you want to be a full time programmer.. I would say if you are testing the waters for advanced programming then try SCALA too..
