Technically speaking, he didn't steal or distribute anything. He just created a program that users decided to use for that purpose. Unless the feds can prove otherwise then you can't really hold him responsible for that any more than you can hold a gun manufacturer responsible for somebody using a gun they created to kill somebody, or an alcohol distributor responsible for the death of a drunk driver.

He didn't create a bit torrent program as far as i am aware, he ran a site hosting torrents.

            Yeah, you're right.

Given that correction it's going to be even harder for the feds to prove their case against him due to the fact that he just created a file hosting website. Look how long it's taken them to gain any ground in their case against ********** founder Kim Dotcom. Extradition has a lot to do with how slow that case has been crawling, but it's also a distinct lack of evidence to support the claims of the Feds.

I don't see how any technologically savvy jury would find any of these dudes guilty but, even if they did, the ruling wouldn't do anything to prevent future people from taking up the banner and continuing the fight.

These people are basically putting a band-aid over a gunshot wound and proclaiming a victory.

Look I really don't care if people use steal programs, media, etc on torrent sites.

But most of torrents activity is is stolen property.

Kim.com made the same argument as you when he was arrested, and he was let go free. So you have a good point, but that doesn't change the fact of what these sites are used for. IMO they are the middleman of massive theft of property. Again, I don't care if thet go to jail or not, but they deserve to.

I also think the owner of KAT got arrested for money laundering, so I'm not sure his case will go away fhe way Kim.Coms did.

You can't steal digital media. Anything that's out there can be replicated.

you people don't understand how already rich these folks in the industry already are. they want every dime out of your pocket. batman vs superman cost $410,000,000.00 to make and made over $925,000,000.00 at the box office and still continues to grow. but god forbid little jeffrey who's parents are too poor to buy it on blu ray downloads it from this website for 3 hours of his entertainment. LYNCH LITTLE JEFFREY! HE MUST PAY FOR HIS CRIMES VIA DEATH!

The feds would be wise to pursue the other charges like money laundering if they're seeking a serious conviction.

Honestly, I'm not a torrent guy anymore anyway. I used to download everything. Nowadays I rarely even have the time to sit down and watch any of that stuff, or if I do have free time I'd rather spend it online chatting, out somewhere getting drunk, or playing a video game or watching Netflix and relaxing.

I do stream boxing PPVs, though. The sport is so terrible these days that I can't justify paying for any of these Canelo/Khan or Golovkin/Brook type mismatches.

Theft is theft. Don't complain then when the internet providers start putting caps on everything. These people want and deserve to get paid in the millions because they created something that has great demand. Anyone that tries to argue to the contrary is probably justifying themselves for being thieves.
