In an emailed statement, the DEA said, "With regard to Agent Furay's adult daughter, Sarah Furay, she was arrested recently in College Station, TX on charges related to drug trafficking. The College Station Police Department is handling all investigative matters related to the charges."
As reported last month, Sarah Furay was arrested Nov. 6 on charges of drug possession after police served a search warrant at her College Station apartment.
Death and Taxes ran the story with the headline, "Texas cops arrest adorable drug kingpin," but later apologized for the "flippant" approach that some criticized for having racist implications.
"Black males are sentenced inordinate amounts of time in prison for drugs never even found on their person; meanwhile, Furay's grin almost deliberately relates her knowledge that her consequences won't meet the same extreme," the ****zine said in its apology.
The Daily Beast also noted the racial disparity in the drug war, with a story headlined, "When white girls deal drugs, they walk."
In Furay's apartment, police reportedly found large amounts of Ecstasy, *******, marijuana, methamphetamine and an LSD-like product.
According to KBTX-TV in College Station, Furay was evicted from her apartment shortly after her Nov. 7 release from the Brazos County Jail on $39,000 bond.
