Prove it. And if you try, make sure you clarify the terms '*******' and 'conservative' when you do it. Take '*******' for example. Classic *******ism is really pretty much modern libertarianism in many ways. Classic ******** would be furious at all the personal freedoms modern ******** have taken from us.

That's not true, and a talking point to boot. It's the ************* who want to reform (or get rid of) things like Social Security and the EPA, for example.

    at least they try.
That's a flawed way of thinking.

Yet another talking point not rooted in fact. Of course if you can cite some mainstream ************* calling for a return to slavery, I'll admit I was wrong.

I'm not a conservative. My post you replied to should have made that clear.

That's the biggest issue righties worry about,, big centralized government that sucks the economy dry and stifles innovation.. There is a reason why hardly any innovations or technological advances come from countries with massive federal governments..

No one thinks government is bad, but the scope is an entirely different arguement.. The founding fathers realized this and that's why they tried to limit the scope of government to its bare essentials..
You seem to be confusing 'the right' and '*************' with Libertarianism, though you do make valid points about the size and scope of Government and our Founders views on it.

No, getting rid of social security is not progressive, it's a regressive move aimed at returning America to some sort of mythical golden age where the just were righteous and the poor starved to death.

America was never like that. That's yet another DNC talking point parroted in this thread. Of course as I've said before, I'll admit I'm wrong if you can prove it. Do you have any statistics you can cite about how many Americans starved to death before Social Security came along?

That's why I used the term "mythical".

No it isn't. Conservatism, regardless of the country, carries with it a nostalgia for the "good old days".

Oh, I see, you were saying that prior to social security everything was just dandy and every American had his own ranch until them gosh darned ******** ruined it all.

No, I never said that in any way.

Now can you please provide the statistics I asked you to provide?
