It was good, I enjoyed it but it gets completely overhyped when people start saying it's the greatest movie.. I prefer casino or goodfellas, I even think the departed was just as good f not better than training day..

This. The Departed is my favourite film of this generation, if not the best.

For one thing it's 13 years old so scarecely qualifies as "this generation". It also came out in the same year as Fellowship of the Ring, A Beautiful Mind, Donnie Darko, Monsters Inc, Shrek...

A bunch of excellent movies came out that year, Mulholland Drive, Moulin Rouge, Black Hawk Down, Amelie, Vanilla Sky, The others, Enemy at the Gates. Hell I even really enjoyed Zoolander and Knights Tale.
