Can someone explain the concept of "injury time" in soccer to me?

they don't stop the clock in soccer. they add time to the end of the half to make up for time lost due to stoppages in play.

As above the clock continues during the game and the referee will add time to the end of each half calculated by taking into account injury stoppages, fouls, red cards and whether or not Alex Ferguson's team needs a goal.
