Leo is overacting, the problem with this isn't that he does it bad , it's that he does it too much and when a really good scene calls for him to put it all in , we've already seen it 10-20 times in the same movie. Not sure if it's the director's fault or his but it kills excellent scenes when you see too much off it.

Gangs of New York kinda dragged on for me , I never found myself invested in the main characters (the dude that was hung on a fence in the middle of 5 points, couldn't care less).

I was entertained by the Wolf of Wallstreet but I have already watched Goodfellas. It's pretty much the same thing except a different style of living(no guns, no ones getting whacked, no imminent feeling of danger)
The bolded were excellent points IMO.

Still think Scorsese does pretty good for himself.

So last 20 years he's done this....

The Age of Innocence - 7/10
      Casino - 9/10
      Kundun - 6/10
Bringing Out the Dead - 7.5/10
Gangs of New York - 8.5/10
      The Aviator - 8/10
      The Departed - 9.5/10
      Shutter Island - 6/10
Hugo - Admit I haven't seen it but got universal acclaim from critics
The Wolf of Wall Street - 8.5/10

That's a better resume than 99% of filmmakers, not to mention the previous 20 years where he had like 4 classics. He's held up pretty well for someone moving into his age. Most directors are lucky to have one classic....Marty has had like 4-5.

The Departed and Casino were amazing, The Wof of Wall Street was good so was Shutter Island.

I'm looking forward to "The Irishman", sure they're old but Pesci, DeNiro and Pacino in the same, gangster movie directed by Scorsese?

          - Same rise and fall theme.
          - Both main characters come from humble beginnings but turn to illegal activity to gain the lavish lifestyle they want
          - The narration is almost exactly the same (for example: the scene stops while the character talks directly to the camera)
          - Both characters give up their friends when they get caught in order to get a lighter sentence.

I'm surprised he didn't use that same Rolling Stones song in Wolf. You know, the same one in The Departed and in Casino.
Are you talking about Let It Loose? One of the greatest fucking songs ever?

Don't look for The Irishman until at least 2017-2018, if it happens at all. He's making Silence next.

Although I maybe wouldn't rate those movies quite as highly as you, I do agree they're good films.

I think it says a lot for his standards that they can seem a "come down" by his own previous achievements. The vast majority of films would seem a come down compared to Taxi Driver IMO.

I had something else to say, but I'm drunk and can't remember.

Yeah, when will he finally start making Silence? I've been hearing about it 2-3 years now. I believe it's gonna be a great film but The Irishman is destined to greatness...

Goodfellas is my all time favourite film, I've watched it like 50 times (no kidding)

That's true. The only ones I couldn't really get into that much were Kundun and Shutter Island was just meh to me. Could have been a lot better.

Age of Innocence and Bringing Out the Dead are underrated IMO, but hey....

His most underrated work was in the 80's though...

                  After Hours
                  King of Comedy
                  Last Temptation of Christ

3 damn good movies that don't seem to get any love from people

I never really "got" Goodfellas. Sure, it's very, very good, but when people talk about it being top ten all time, and the best Scorcese, I'm a bit "wtf?" about it all.

That said, my favourite Scorcese movie is After Hours, so what do I know?

It's official for next year. He's cast Andrew Garfield, Liam Neeson, Adam Driver, Ken Watanabe. Scrpit was written by Jay ****s, who wrote The Age of Innocence and Gangs of New York for Scorsese.

I think filming starts this summer Taiwan or something.
