Great news for those of you living in Columbia City, South Carolina

South Carolina approves plan to exile its homeless

    By VERONICA LINARES, UPI.com

The Columbia City Council in South Carolina has unanimously approved a new plan, the "Emergency Homeless Response," that seeks to remove homeless people from the downtown area.
The initiative, which was started by Councilman Cameron Runyan, will consist of police officers -- who patrol the city center -- enforcing the city's "quality of life" laws, including bans on loitering, public urination and other violations.

In addition, officers will be instructed to keep homeless people out of the city's center. If the homeless refuse to leave, they could be arrested.

well as long as they have a place for the homeless to go, then it seems like a good idea..much better than throwing them in jail

When I went to UCI, the cops would give the homeless bus passes to Santa Ana.

              Lets just exterminate them instead.

I could only imagine what this would be like if this were to happen in San Francisco, California.. things would go ballistic. Probably be impossible anyways without bum fights happening.

Guy looks like a douche bag who think people below a certain income class are complete trash and a burden on society.

Hopefully this gets overturned as they are trying to squeeze over 1600 into a 240 capacity shelter.

Basically this has nothing to do with helping homeless and everything to do with just getting rid of them.

I tend to agree only in the sense that this didn't go far enough. Spending Cuts to the budget need to be made....and why have a shelter at all?

(Govt)Collectivism doesn't work. Individual initiative does. Then there is always ...I'm sure there are plenty of private citizens willing to do something with these vermin's and try to get them back to being productive and self-sufficient.
